Vocational Training (Tailoring & Plastic Bag Making) of Adolescent with Disabilities
Protibandhi Shishu Shiekkha O Paricharja Samity (Proships) is a Local non govt.
Voluntary Organization in Bangladesh.
It is registered with Social services department and also registered NGO affaires Bureau for receiving foreign donation.
Protibandhi Shishu Shikkha O Paricharja Samity (Proships) it is a centre for development of disable, destitute and disadvantaged children.
It has support for development of the disabled children and destitute disadvantaged and working children to ensure their equal rights, proper opportunities and participation in the community.
Proships has been working for improving the ultimate socio economic condition of the most disadvantage destitute and disable Person at the community level at Islampur and Dewangonj Uazilla Under District of Jamalpur ,Bangladesh.
Proships is working in the field since the last ten years with Children with disabilities and vulnerable children.
Proships have been working through awareness and advocacy, health, education and rehabilitation programs for the Person with Disabilities in the Community.
Disable Girls and women and person with Disabilities is one of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in the community.
The family considers them as a burden or a course.
Others always look them down upon. Many times, they deprived of their basic human rights.
Still there are no facilities for health, education and care for development of them.
Being a destitute child, the miseries of his /her life increase hundred times.
In our existing socio-economic structure, the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are mostly dependent upon their family.
Beside, Due to Girls and women with Disabilities they are very much neglected also burden in their family, society and also all sphere of life.
In our Community where poverty is especially detrimental and girls and women with Disabilities as seen as a economic burden.
Adolescent girl faces many obstacles like, abuse, family tortured, trafficking and also early marriage
From our experiences gained during findings of the community studies, it has been revealed that the Negative attitude of the community regarding the disable person, Lack of proper scopes, facilities of education and proper facilities for their development of the rural community have significantly increase the miseries of the girls and women with Disabilities in the community.
Lack of awareness on the women rights, women health and reproductive health rights, rights of the participants and accessibility are mainly responsible for the present situation.
Nearly in all classes the people with Disabilities including girls and women with disabilities are out of the Development process by their families and communities due to their lack of knowledge about their potentiality.
They are viewed by the Community as a burden and source of stress for their families; they do not have access to school, Training and, job opportunity, public place and community activities.
They and their families suffer from inferiority complex, which results in their exclusion from every day life. . Early marriage is culturally allowed and viable option for parents who cannot afford to keep their daughters.
As a result, most girls become mothers prematurely, leading to serious and often life threatening health complications for both mother and child.
Appropriate care and development services can reverse the existing situation of most of girls and women with disabilities and enable them to lead an independent life and contribute to their family and the nation.
It is recognized that the Disable girls and women must be integrated into the mainstream of development processes to minimize their development and to achieve their total self reliance.
On the backdrop of the above circumstance, Promoting women rights, rights of participation and accessibility and also creating Potential of Adolescent girls with disabilities we are Operating Vocational training (tailoring and Plastic Bags making) by our Organization of Proships with 40 Adolescent girls and women with Disabilities .
These Program creating major changes in the lives of the participating adolescent girls.
Proposed activities have been found essential and effective in the community.
Organization of Proships has been implementing the programs in a very small and limited scale because of financial limitation.
Nevertheless, the community has a greater need for those initiatives moreover, No other organization are supplementing the programs at our rear of implementation.
