Dear Friend
My name is Chan Sarin, Program Manager of Hagar-House of Smiles, It was great to see your comment through JICA website, I was excited to your comment as it is part of your encouragement for me to work more on Cambodian social welfare
I was the 4th Duskin Leadership Training in Japan in the year 2002 and returned back to Cambodia in 2003 with bring many experiences a long to share in Cambodia through Japanese experiences, culture, technologies and developments resources on the disability sectors
The House of Smiles is one of our many programs. The House of Smiles provides quality care and services to over 50 children in the community with physical and mental disabilities. In Cambodia, a child with physical or mental disabilities is often considered an embarrassment and a burden. Families often lack the knowledge and resources needed to properly care for children with disabilities. As a result, children with disabilities are often uneducated and have little hope of reaching their full potential. At the House of Smiles children receive the necessary physical therapy and specialized care they need to grow and thrive as well quality education that meets there needs and abilities.
Again thank you for your interest and comment and I hope to see you some day in Japan or in Cambodia
Best Wishes,
Sarin

Dear friend
It was great to see your comment on the JICA friend website; we are working
with many types of disability in Cambodia. Through these experiences we are
able to support the disabled children in term of physical and emotional
development
You know that the rights of the child should be the point of departure for
the project. The main emphasis will be on integrating the children, to
enabling them to attend an ordinary school with other normal children. The
aim is also support family-centered, community-based strategies for
improving the quality of life for children with special health care needs
and their families
The projects focus on supporting children with Special Education and
Learning Difficulty and it will be rooted in the local community that where
possible there are some participations by children and parents around the
community with exchange knowing collaboration with local experts and with
the authorities are essential, especially innovative ones and inclusive
education for children with disabilities
The aim of the project is also for People with intellectual disabilities
have the same Human Rights as other citizens. Inclusion in Cambodia wants
all people with intellectual disabilities to know about their rights. We
want governments and other organisations to support their Human Rights.
Inclusion in order to supports their activities in the society and
development and also to protect the Children Rights of all their citizens.
People with intellectual disabilities have the right to equal participation
in society. They must participate in all decisions that concern their lives.
Inclusion must be strongly supports the self-advocacy movement (people with
intellectual disabilities who speak for themselves).Inclusion is to helps
people get access to education, employment, social life and involvement in
the political process. People with intellectual disabilities often suffer
from discrimination, harassment or violence.
Thanks you for your interest and we are looking forward to seeing you
sometime
Sarin
