A participant of 2005’s Leader Course, Ms. Donnabelle V. BALDONADO and a

Dear JICAfriends Secretariat,

I am so happy to see our activity last December of 2006 posted by you in this website.

It was a year-end gathering of PWD leaders in our region in preparation for 2007 which looks promising knowing our newly-elected officers are all dynamic leaders from their respective organizations in the different provinces.

Me and Mark shared about our experiences and insights during our trainings in Japan. But you know what, the main speaker during the 2-day activity was Mr. Mario F. Abaygar who was himself a JICA trainee way back in the '90s. I would say that he's one of our dynamic leaders who until now prefers to stay and serve the sector of persons with disabilities despite all the hardships that we've been through. He is one of the 4 pioneers of ADP-Iloilo.

Not only Mr. Abaygar leading the PWD sector in the regional level but also in the national level. However, he never forgets the grassroots whom he believes where the majority of Filipino PWDs are. His commitment to serve the sector inspired many of us to go on with what we have started.

At present, he is our PWD Sectoral Representative in the National Anti-Poverty Commission for the Visayas and occupying a major position in the National Federation of the Cooperatives of PWDs.

We are looking forward for more worthy endeavors in 2007 as far as the sector of persons with disabilities in the region is concerned.

More Power!

It is only the beginning of a new era which PWDs can obtain freedom with hope, respect and dignity in the society.

Me and my friends will do the best that we can to make the future "Barrier Free" to anyone with harmony...
