letter from Veronica Rodríguez and two pictures -Veronica Rodríguez
Dear jicafriends,
It’s amazing how fast time goes by.
Two days ago, November 2, which is a special day in Mexico
because we celebrate “DIA DE MUERTOS” (DAY OF THE DEAD),
Jose and I were watching TV and there was a programme about
Hiroshima.
Our hearts and minds flew back a year to this beautiful city
we visited during our training course, and where this year’s
participants are now!
What an experience it was!
You may have noticed I wrote “we”.
That’s because last year was the first time JICA accepted
a disabled participant with an assistant.
It wasn’t easy and JICA only covered my expenses; but it was
worth it.
A few weeks ago I received wonderful news: JICA officially
decided to accept disabled persons with an assistant if he/she
requires so.
I think this is great, another step ahead. I feel very honoured
that Jose and I, in a way, were able to be part of this decision.
Now it’s in your hands to take advantage of this new opportunity!
Our best wishes for all.
Love,
Veronica
