Request from Philippines-Enriqueta Rala
To all JICA friends,
Again, this is Kety from the Philippines, greeting you with my
warmest "Hello". Hope every one of you are all doing great!
It's been my pleasure sharing you what's happening now in our
organization. As I've said, we just have our bakery launching last July
19, 2005. It's been a successful celebration on that day. We advertised
our launching in the radio, and our friends come to attend our launching.
Many breads and cookies were sold, and most of them ordered some cakes, too.
We even met new friends from nearby and some visitors from different places.
It's been very tiring day, but it's a fulfillment anyway. How I wish you
we're here to.
As of now, we want to learn more on different kinds of cookies and
pastries, to make our products unique and different! So to all JICA
friends, please share with us your recipes, who knows? Your recipe will be
liked by our costumers, and we'll name it after your names. Example: AKI
cookies! Is it nice cookies' name?
I want also to give my thanks to Keikosan for the message, to
Masakosan for giving us inspiration when she visited our organization. Also
to Wayama, Yukisan , Ueno, Akiko and to all my coordinators when I was in
Jica and to all my co-participants. That was a very great experience and
inspiration to me. To pursue our goal for the organization: PROVINCIAL
FEDERATION OF PERSONS WIYH DISABILITY OF NUEVA VIZCAYA, INC.!

First Algarrobo Town PwD Census - Carlos Kaiser
In Algarrobo Town (Chile central region seaside) we are working on our
first census of PwD.
We create a Municipal PwD Affairs Office this year. In order to focus
our work we start planning this census.
We are using an international methodology based on abilities instead
of disabilities (eg. instad of asking if the person has legs, we ask: can
you mobilize your self, how?, grade of difficulty.)
The National found for PwD gave us this methodology.
We are working with our community. we will make this census along with
215 people.
Census will be carried on August the 20nth.
I send pictures of planning and breefing meetings.
Carlos

Summer has come!-Akiko.Takizawa(JSRPD)
From June to the middle of July, Japan has abundant rainfall.
The rain around this period is referred as tsuyu.
Tsuyu literally means "plum rain".
The plum trees bear fruit during this season, so the rainy season became to
be known as tsuyu.
Some people call it tsuyu, while others may refer to it as baiu.
Tsuyu season starts in Okinawa, then northwards from Kyushu to Tohoku.
Hokkaido does not have the tsuyu season.
It rains almost everyday, but for the Japanese, this rain is a blessing.
The rainwater is essential for everyday life, and especially for farming.
Weather forecast announced the end of the rainy season in Tokyo area
yesterday.
Summer has come!

Invitation from Philippines-Enriqueta Rala
Hello JICA friends, how are you now a days? It's been a long time since we have a nice time together. Hope you're all doing good!
For me well, it's been a very busy days since I finished the training from JICA. Me and Mary(the organization's President) are working very hard together in the organization especially to our livelihood projects. First, I thought it was only a DREAM, but that DREAM comes true. At long last we had opened our PWD Bakery. We are now baking breads, cookies, native cakes and now accepting birthday cakes orders. We still have looking forward on making our products good to meet the likes of the people. We hope that someday our sweet cookies could reach you wherever place and country you are. Maybe were too far to see each other again but our cookies would come to reach you and say HOW I REALLY MISS YOU ALL!!!
Anyway, I'm Inviting you "Friends" on July 19, 2005 at Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines..We are now going to Launch our PWD Bakery. Hope you come and buy our breads and cookies! SEE YOU THERE!!!!
Missing you all...KETY THE CUTE...

Leaders network in Chile- Carlos Kaiser
Dear Friends,
Every year the chilean magazine "El Sábado" makes a selection of 100 leaders.
I was selected as one of them (Leaders 2004).
This year the "el Sábado" magazine (issued by "El Mercurio" the largest newspaper in my country) along with Adolfo Ibañez Univerdsity, create a network of leaders from different fields.
The idea is to work to improve our country.
The members of the network have access to training in leadership, to get help to make proyects and to articipate in seminars.
We have the opportunity of having meetings with international leaders.
I send a picture with Mr. Bill Clinton.

I was prudly wearing my Kenshu in pin during his conference.
Ths way I feel all Jica friends with me.

More than 11,000 people were there on July 5th-Masako.Okuhira(JSRPD)
I reported approximately 5000 people with disabilities got together at
Hibiya Park on July 5th to protest against with a bill for supporting
independence of persons with disabilities.
Let me correct the number of people with disabilities who were there.
The report of the organizor said that more than 11,000 people gathered and marched.
It is the biggest number of all history in disability fields.
Carlos, I personally do not agree with this bill.
Because it seems that the services people with disabilities have obtained
by spending decades will be fell off.
But I should study it carefully to say more opinion.

Demonstration for new bill--Masako.Okuhira(JSRPD)
More than 5,000 disabled people gathered at Hibiya Park in Tokyo, Japan on July 5th to protest against with a new bill for supporting independence of persons with disabilities.
The protesters marched from Hibiya Park to the Diet Building calling for revision of its bill.
In Japan, there have beenseveral big demonstrations last a couple of years to appeal the needs of persons with disabilities. Now it is a peak. We really hope the bill will be good for persons with disabilities.
