The Golden Week starts from this Friday
(From April 29 to May 5)
As you can see the following calendar, not a week, but ten days holiday will start from April 29, if you take leaves on 2nd and 6th of May. Some of the companies and offices will be closed for ten days.
April 29 Greenery Day
It is the late Emperor Showa's birthday. After his death, it was designated as a day for preserving Japan's greenery.
April 30 Saturday
May 1 Sunday
May 3 Constitution Day
It is a day to commemorate the enactment of the Constitution of Japan in 1947.
May 4 National Holiday
It was decided that this day should be a national holiday because it is between May 3, Constitution Day, and May 5, Children's Day.
May 5 Children’s Day
It is a day to hope for the health and happiness of children.
It used to be called “tango no sekku”, a day of celebration for boys only and put up carp-shaped streamers for this day.
